Online total chlorine analyzers enable round‑the‑clock monitoring without human supervision through a set of integrated automation features.

Automatic sampling and preparation. The analyzer directly draws a representative water sample from the process line. Built‑in filters and bubble traps remove particles and air bubbles automatically, ensuring a consistent sample for every measurement.

Fully automated analysis. A programmable controller drives the entire analytical cycle – adding reagents (buffer and DPD indicator), mixing, measuring absorbance or current, and converting the signal to total chlorine concentration. All steps are executed by pumps and valves without operator involvement.

Self‑cleaning and auto‑calibration. To prevent drift and contamination, the instrument runs periodic cleaning cycles using a detergent or acid solution, followed by a zero‑calibration. Advanced models also perform two‑point auto‑calibration, correcting any baseline drift automatically.

Reagent monitoring and alerts. Liquid level sensors continuously track reagent and waste volumes. When reagents run low or waste is nearly full, the analyzer sends an alarm via 4‑20 mA, Modbus, or dry contact. This allows maintenance visits to be scheduled only once every one or two weeks.

Remote data and diagnostics. The analyzer transmits real‑time values, status, and alarm codes to a central SCADA system or cloud platform via RS485, Ethernet, or wireless modules. Operators can view trends, check errors, and even trigger cleaning cycles from a remote location.

In short, unattended operation is achieved by combining automated sampling, analysis, self‑cleaning, reagent level monitoring, and remote communication. These features allow the instrument to run reliably for days or weeks, reducing labor while ensuring continuous disinfection control.
